Malaysian brands on .com and other domains

Many Malaysian companies use a .com or .net address, so they don’t appear in the .my list above. A selection of well-known ones:

Domain Rating by Ahrefs. Data updated 8 October 2026. World rank = position in Ahrefs’ top 1 million websites by Domain Rating.

What stands out

Key takeaways from the October 2026 list

Marketplaces lead

Lazada and Shopee top the .my list. Huge numbers of product, seller and affiliate links point to them from across the web.

Government is everywhere

About 4 in 10 of the top 100 are .gov.my sites. Bank Negara, LHDN, Immigration and MOH are linked to by news, banks and businesses every day.

News earns links daily

The Star, NST, Sinar Harian and Sin Chew rank high because other sites cite their reporting constantly.

Universities hold their own

UM, UPM, USM, UTM and UKM all sit in the top 30. Research papers, student portals and news coverage give them a steady stream of links.

The biggest group of Malaysian sites on the list sits between DR 50 and 59, and the cut-off to make Ahrefs’ top 1 million is around DR 46. Only a handful of .my sites score 80 or above.

Method

How this list is put together

  • Source. Ahrefs publishes the top 1 million websites in the world ranked by Domain Rating. We take every .my domain from that list.
  • Grouped by domain type. .com.my, .gov.my, .edu.my, .org.my and other .my addresses each have their own tab.
  • Cleaned by hand. We remove gambling sites, expired domains taken over by online casinos, link shorteners, parked domains, piracy sites, unofficial lookalikes of government services and sites that aren’t Malaysian.
  • No web or hosting companies. We leave out web design, development and digital marketing agencies, web hosting and domain companies, website platforms and business directories, including our own business, to keep the list neutral.
  • Refreshed monthly. The list updates automatically every month, and the date is shown under the table.
Domain Rating is not traffic. DR measures the strength of a site’s backlinks, not how many people visit it. A government portal can have a higher DR than a popular shopping app. This is a ranking of link authority, not “most visited websites in Malaysia”.
Missing a big name? Many Malaysian companies use .com addresses, such as AirAsia, Petronas and Maybank. We list a selection of them separately below the main table.

We don’t buy links or use link networks. Our SEO services in Malaysia earn relevant links as part of the work, and our SEO packages and pricing are published so you can see exactly what you get.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Domain Rating?

Domain Rating (DR) is Ahrefs’ score from 0 to 100 for how strong a website’s backlink profile is, based on how many unique websites link to it and how strong those websites are. It is relative and logarithmic, so each point gets harder to earn as you go up.

Is this a list of the most visited websites in Malaysia?

No. Domain Rating measures backlinks, not visitors. Sites that are linked to a lot, like government portals and news sites, rank high even if a shopping or social app gets more visits.

Why isn’t my website on the list?

Only sites in Ahrefs’ top 1 million worldwide are included, which currently takes a Domain Rating of about 46. The list also only covers .my addresses. Check your own score and Malaysian rank with the checker at the top of this page.

Why are some well-known Malaysian companies missing?

Many Malaysian brands use .com or .net addresses, so they aren’t in the .my ranking. A selection of them is shown in a separate table below the main list.

How often is the list updated?

Every month. The date of the latest update is shown under the table.

Can I share or cite this list?

Yes. Please link to this page and keep the credit “Domain Rating by Ahrefs”, which is required whenever Domain Rating data is published.
